1 Organize a list of questions regarding your loan program:

Make sure to have a list of questions if you find that you don't totally understand the ins and outs of all the different programs. 2 Decide when to lock:

When you lock in the interest rate, a lender is sure to hold to the interest rates for the loan - generally at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the day you apply for the loan and issuance of closing documents. 3 Decide if you want to pay additional points to lower your interest rate:
